Most people live with the knowledge that death will come someday, yet many of us rarely consider what that knowledge should mean for the way we live today.
My perspective changed through experiences that brought me face-to-face with my own mortality.
In 1978, I underwent what I describe as a near-death experience that left an enduring impression upon my understanding of life, eternity, and my relationship with Jesus Christ.
Decades later, in March 2019, another experience during surgery renewed my awareness of life's fragility.
These events became central to my personal testimony.
I recognize that near-death experiences are deeply personal and that people interpret them through different spiritual, medical, and philosophical perspectives.
I share mine as experiences I believe I lived through, not as scientific proof of what every person will encounter after death.
What matters most to me is the transformation these experiences brought into my everyday life.
They strengthened my desire to live with purpose, examine my priorities, and take seriously the responsibilities that accompany the time we are given.
It is easy to postpone important conversations, delay reconciliation, neglect meaningful relationships, or assume there will always be another opportunity.
But none of us possesses an unlimited supply of tomorrows.
That reality need not produce constant fear. It can encourage gratitude, compassion, humility, and a more intentional way of living.
If my testimony accomplishes anything, I hope it encourages readers to consider the value of their lives and the choices they are making today.
